Isn’t a survey carried out by my lender?

Where mortgage finance is involved, the lender will appoint a surveyor to carry out a valuation of the property to ensure it is suitable security for lending and is worth what is being paid for it. This is principally to protect the bank and in some instances it may take the form of a desktop valuation. It will not provide the buyer with a detailed assessment of the property’s condition.
